Children and Families in Worship
Children are a sign of vibrancy in the church!
We have a culture of welcome for children and their families at United Churches of Langley! The sounds and movement of children during worship, prayers, singing, dancing reminds us that the Spirit has moved in all of us, and we might need to also move to let the Spirit fully express.
During our 10:30am Family Worship service in Murrayville:
As families arrive, they are invited to come to the Family Zone in the Sanctuary, reserved right up front so our families of all ages can have a close-up view of the early part of the service.
Children all get a turn to Sing the large crystal singing bowl and light the Christ Candle. Children and families participate in the opening songs and prayers and then are invited by Rev. Sophia and Rev. Hilde to participate in a spiritual reflection or story. The children are then sung out with a blessing to venture downstairs for age-specific programming!
If your child wants to stay with you in church, there are colouring sheets and soft toys for them. Their sounds and movement may be incorporated into the minister's sermon with playful delight!
The nurturing act of breastfeeding is welcome anywhere in our buildings. If you prefer a more private space, there is a room just behind the sanctuary marked for families and their babies. Feel free to use this room. There is a changing table and baby supplies and some small toys and books in this room for you as well.
There are three locations of Washrooms in our Murrayville site: There is a Gender-Neutral Family washroom in the Community Hall off the entrance lobby of the church. Gender specific stalled washrooms are in the hall behind the sanctuary and Gender-Neutral washrooms are available downstairs near the children and youth rooms.
Whereever you are in our space - you are welcome!
