The United Church of Canada is calling for prayers, and has launched an appeal for donations that will provide humanitarian relief to Haiti, Cuba, and nearby Caribbean countries devastated by Hurricane Matthew. The United Church has contributed $20,000 from its Emergency Response Fund to partners in Haiti and the surrounding region.
We pray for the people of Haiti, Cuba, and surrounding countries whose lives have been suddenly and violently shattered. We pray for their loved ones, homes, livelihoods and crops. We also pray for those who are from this region and now living in Canada, as well as for Canadians whose loved ones were in this region when the hurricane struck.

Your donation to the Hurricane Matthew Emergency Appeal will be directed to the global ACT Alliance of church-based relief organizations, and to long-standing partners that have trusted and well-established records of delivering aid, and assisting with reconstruction. United Church partners work diligently to ensure the donations they administer reach the most vulnerable communities in the greatest need as quickly as possible.
UCoL congregants can also make a donation through the church office or with Sunday offering. Please be sure to note "Emergency Response—Hurricane Matthew" on the face of your cheque.
Note: As part of the United Church's Emergency Response Fund, 100% of your donation goes directly to emergency relief with 85% of your donation responding to this designated emergency and 15% responding to future emergencies that do not receive intense media coverage. Donations to Mission & Service enable the United Church to cover all of the costs of emergency response work without deducting any fees from your donation.
