“There is economy in performing as a couple. One other mind to connect to, one set of charts to read, one hotel room to book on tour... there is joy in knowing that you are part of a duo — in life and in music."

"We have always made it our mission to play music we love and connect to emotionally — it matters not whether it is from the standard American songbook or not."

"The music we create is partnership in its many forms, music and love. All the songs we play are joint decisions based on this — but mostly, Love!"

"If there were no music....we would not get through."

Jennifer Scott & Rene Worst

Jennifer Scott is an important jazz voice, considered the finest jazz vocal improviser in Canada by her peers, her fans and by the musicians who work with her. She has sung with many Jazz Greats and has been nominated for Juno and Jessie Awards.

Jennifer Scott has performed to sold-out crowds from San Diego to Vancouver to Whitehorse on the West Coast of Canada and has begun a major foray onto the world stage including performances in Amsterdam, Milan and Rome.

From a recent review by noted Jazz journalist Andy Gilbert:

“Scott has set herself apart from the jazz-vocalist pack with her mesmerizing renditions of the most unlikely tunes... With her warm, flexible contralto, Scott brings a striking emotional intelligence to everything she sings, no matter what the context. As much a song stylist as an improviser, she puts her stamp on the material through her supple sense of swing and deft, slippery phrasing.”

Jennifer has been a featured performer with several big bands and has had commissioned works written for her. She has recorded numerous well-received and award-winning CDs including Mess Around with Crossing Borders, Sonho Meu with her ensemble Brasileira, Chance with guitarist Peter Bernstein, Duets and Pairings with husband/bassist Rene Worst and her most recent recordings Arrival with Canadian guitar legend Bill Coon & Music For Bigs & Smalls, to be released in early 2021.

Jennifer teaches a wide range of workshops and also privately coaches singers and musicians on jazz singing, technique, performance, improvisation, repertoire and alternative vocal techniques.

Rene Worst, an internationally known and well respected bass player, has established himself as one of the most influential and leading jazz voices in North America for several decades. He attended the UBC School of Music and Douglas College jazz program and was voted Bassist of the Year by the BC CARAS Tribute to West Coast Music for the four years that the awards were given.

Rene was co-leader of the now-legendary fusion band Skywalk with six CDs to their credit. He is also the bassist with Brazilian band Novo Tempo and multi-disciplinary ensemble Crossing Borders, bands that have toured extensively throughout the US & Canada; he is a virtuoso on both string and electric basses. He released a second duo CD, El Escorial, with pianist Miles Black. Rene Worst has recorded and performed with numerous jazz greats, including his partner in music and life, Jennifer Scott. His recent recording projects are with Jennifer Scott & Brasileira (producer, bassist), Jennifer Scott & Rene Worst Duets and a duo album with lauded Nashville Guitarist John Knowles — all recorded and released in 2012. Most recent recordings are with Jennifer: Pairings and Music for Bigs and Smalls, plus many more projects as bassist/producer.
