Starfish Pack Program supplies food over weekends to kids who would otherwise come to school on Monday hungry. It is a known fact that hungry kids don’t learn well.  We have been collaborating with the Langley School District Foundation and their slogan is “Food for Thought”.

Did you know that 3000 school kids in Langley School District do not get breakfast, lunch or dinner on the weekend?  The Starfish Pack Program was named after the well-known Parable of the Starfish, which illustrates the importance of helping even just one life in need. Please visit for detailed information about this program

Each school year we provide Starfish backpacks to more than 40 families in 5 elementary schools: Alice Brown, Blacklock, Douglas Park, Nicomekl and Wix-Brown elementary schools and 12 teens in secondary schools. We are partnering with the Langley School District Foundation, two Langley Rotary clubs, the Shewan Foundation, and Save-on-Foods to provide food for these families in need. Langley Drycleaners has been dry cleaning the backpacks for free every six months. We continue to gather at Brookswood Secondary School with the students from the Leadership Program and other interested students, to fill the packs ready for distribution.

Our Starfish Pack Program in Langley is now a 12-month program, which means that we supply packs with food for these families not only during the school year but also provide food gift cards for over the summer months.

The support for this program has been very much appreciated, and further donations are always welcome.

Please contact the program coordinator if you would like to get involved with the program as a volunteer or donor.
