“At this festive time of year, Mr. Scrooge,” said the gentleman, taking up a pen, “It is more than usually desirable that we should make some slight provision for the poor and destitute, who suffer greatly at this present time.”

Hominick Music Studio in conjunction with Britannica Repertory Company and the United Churches of Langley will host a dramatic reading of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” accompanied by musical interludes by local musicians. The full cast graciously donates their time and talents and proceeds beyond the minimal cost of putting on the event will be donated to the Langley Pos-Abilities Society, a local non-profit agency that works with the disabled.

The readers perform in period costume, musical interludes are short and seasonal, and homemade mincemeat tarts and mulled cider reward and warm our guests afterward. Audiences and performers alike find this magical story a heart-warming, inspiring way to start their Christmas Season.

Tickets ($10 for individual or $25 family) are available at Long & McQuade on 200th Street,  www.pos-abilities.org or at the door.
