Make Good Trouble

Easter is over and gone. Or is it?

The Sunday after Easter begins a series of readings from the Book of Acts. After the resurrection, after the brief but important appearances of Jesus again, after the celebrations, we come to the Season of Easter: a time to ask ourselves: “What now?” It’s time to follow the apostles and to think about our own responses to the miracle of the resurrection. How do we carry out our call? How do we live as an Easter People?

In today’s reading, Peter and some of the other apostles have been sharing the Good News and healing in Jerusalem, and, once again, Peter is arrested for ignoring the warnings of the authorities not to teach in the name of Jesus. Have we got the courage to keep the Good News alive, and act out the message of promise and the call to justice?
